Keep your head warm this winter

Keep your head warm this winter

Whilst the oft repeated myth that you lose most of your body heat through your head has been proven to be an old wives tale, it still accounts for a significant enough amount to make it a good idea to wear some sort of warm hat during the colder months.

The real percentage of your body heat that is lost via your head – and face - is around 10%, but we tend to notice it more as often it is the only part of the body which is exposed to the elements when temperatures drop.

Some sort of hat will help prevent heat loss from your body

In many situations covering your whole head and face and walking around in some sort of balaclava isn’t very practical, nor comfortable, but there is plenty of other headwear that not only will help keep the heat in, but also looks cool to wear as well, whether you’re on the bank fishing, or involved in some other sort of outdoors pursuit.

The style of headwear which people feel comfortable wearing, and which they think suits them, can vary greatly, but the Korda clothing range has you covered, with plenty of different styles of hats and caps to choose from, and all of which will keep your head warm.

A wide range of colours are available to suit any taste

Some of the Korda range of headwear is even waterproof, as well as being insulated, whilst other items are designed to be worn with a waterproof jacket, such as the DryKore ones, if you get caught out in heavy rain.

So whatever style of hat or headwear you prefer, you’ll find something in the Korda range which fits just right and looks the part as well.

Korda Fleece Waterproof Cap

For those who still prefer to wear some sort of cap even during the winter – which includes our own Danny Fairbrass – this fleece lined version will not only keep your head warm, but it is also waterproof and so will also keep it dry.

It retains all the features you’d expect to find on a normal cap, with a brim to keep the sun out of your eyes and an adjustable strap so that it will securely fit on any head shape or size.

If you prefer to wear a cap then this waterproof, fleece lined one is ideal for the colder months

But in addition to that it also has a fleece lining to ensure your head stays warm, and which also feels veery snug to wear, plus the outer shell is made from a lightweight water-repellent material that ensures that your head will stay dry.

It looks stylish and comes in a choice of olive green or burgundy colours, with one size to fit all.

Korda Fleece Waterproof Boonie

Boonie hats are great for keeping the sun out of your eyes, and the brim that goes all the way around it also stops rain from dripping down your neck and keeps it off your face.

The Korda Fleece Waterproof Boonie is made from a waterproof cotton material, so it will keep your head dry and rain won’t soak through.

Boonie style hats offer plenty of protection from the rain or sun, as well as keeping your head warm

This version of it also has a fleece lining and so is perfect for use during the colder months, as it will not only keep your head warm but also feels very comfortable to wear.

It is a very lightweight hat and has been designed so that one size fits all, thanks to an adjustable elasticated cord to make sure it fits securely and won’t blow off in the wind.

Korda Trawler Beanie

Based on a traditional style ‘trawler’ beanie hat, which is designed to sit on your head and above your ears, unlike a lot of bobble hats which come down over them.

It has a shallow close fit, which removes any excess space in the top of it and means that more body heat is retained, but at the same time doesn’t feel tight and is very comfortable to wear, thanks to the soft ribbed knit material.

The Trawler is different to some other beanie style hats and sits on top of your head rather than over your ears

The Korda Trawler Beanie has a stylish look, with a subtle Korda ‘glasses’ logo on the front, and is perfect for keeping your head warm whether you are on the bank or for every day use.

There is a choice of four different colours, so whether you want something duller or a brighter, you can choose from black, olive, mustard, or burgundy.

Korda Fishermen Beanie

A traditional chunky knit style of beanie hat of the type that has been helping to keep fishermen warm for many years.

The Fishermen Beanie has a shallow cuff design for a snug fit

The Fishermen Beanie fits fairly close to your head, but without being tight fitting, and has enough space that it can be pulled down to help keep your ears warm.

It looks great wherever you are wearing it, with a subtle Korda ‘glasses' logo on a square patch at the front, and comes in a choice of black, olive, or burgundy.

Korda Klassic Beanie

As the name suggests, this is based on a classic design of beanie style hat that is very comfortable to wear and gives good coverage of your head and ears, with one size fitting pretty much any head shape or hair style.

This retro style beanie hat has a very soft feel

It fits snugly thanks to the stretch in the knitted material, without feeling tight, and will keep you warm when temperatures plummet.

As well as being very practical, it also looks the part and is stylish, with a choice of colours whether you want to blend in with your natural surrounds with olive or Dark Kamo, or stand out in situations such as when photographing a fish against a greener background, with rust or burgundy colours.

Korda Nanny Pat Hat

This has been a favourite with our customers for well over a decade now, since first making an appearance in Total Carp magazine, and is one of the items that has been in the Korda clothing range for the longest.

It is based upon the original design that was knitted by Korda employee Jon Mann’s mum, and continues to be a very popular choice with anglers who want to keep their head warm and are also looking to add a splash of colour to their clothing, as you’ll stand out, for all the right reasons, wherever you wear it.

The Korda Nanny Pat Hat is extremely stylish and colourful

It is a chunky knit design that comes in a striking vibrant green and black design, with a traditional bobble, and is very warm and cosy to wear – it certainly kept Jon warm during countless hours spent on the bank in all sorts of weather conditions!
